I moved to Washington DC in April of 2006 for an internship to finish my last semester at BYU. I left 7 years, 1 internship, 2 houses (rented with friends), 1 job, 1 wedding, 2 apartments, 2 babies, lots of awesome road trips, and many great friends later. I lived in DC, Virginia and Maryland and loved living out east! What a great adventure it was and what a great adventure we are starting back in the midwest.
Gratefully Darl's new job paid for a company to load the truck, drive it to MN and unload the truck. We just had to pack everything into boxes. On Tuesday July 9th the moving company came and took all of our stuff away. We spent one final night in our apartment and then left Baltimore on July 10th to being our roadtrip to Minnesota.
After two years in the apartment it was strange to watch it become very empty.
Abigail thought it was pretty great to be able to run around the empty apartment. That night we had her on the floor sleeping on blankets, her first time not in a crib/pack n play, and after a little bit we heard her running around the room. I'm sure she was shouting "I'm free!!" in her head:
How cute is this little dude?
So strange:
Leaving Kilcomon Condominiums for the last time.
Luckily the path from Baltimore to Plymouth has family in it so we were able to stop in Columbus to see Darl's brother Collin and his family. They have a baby, Landon, 3 months older than Ethan.
Landon is not happy about whatever Ethan is trying to do in this picture:
Handsome boys! Sorry I cut part of your head off Jess!
This trip began Abigail's transition out of a crib. She had her own hotel bed!
Up next was Fort Wayne to see Darl's sister Audrey and her family! They have a baby 9 days younger than Ethan. Ethan enjoyed his toys:
Abigail with her cousins Marcus and James:
Baby Christian and Ethan-so cute!
We had fun doing a little photo opp with them.
Christian is SUCH a smiley, happy guy. I like Ethan holding his arm in this picture.
After Fort Wayne we went to Madison, Wisconsin where Abigail had another bed to herself. Although she ended up on the floor part way under our bed, poor girl.
We went out to eat and Ethan REALLY liked the coasters:
Darl's company paid for our food so there was a lot of eating out (as happens when road tripping) and Abigail discovered dipping french fries in ketchup!
Quite serious about it:
Relaxed little girl:
We took our time, but were happy to see Darl's siblings on the way and very happy to make it to Minnesota!
Fun to see your journey to Minnesota! It made me miss my DC time reading your entry. Fun times!
ReplyDeleteYour kiddos are so adorable. I am sure you have lots of mixed emotions with this move. Hope you transition quickly.
ReplyDeleteLove these posts Jane. Your kids are so cute. Ethan looks like Darl! And I think you, bethany, jessi and we all have that same bouncer :)
