Trip to Minnesota

Last week we went to Minnesota for my Grandpa Steven's funeral. He lived a long and happy life (he was almost 92years old). His wife, both daughters, all of his grandchildren and many of his great grandchildren were able to celebrate his life. Gratefully Darl, the kids and I were able to go. We were able to attend the viewing, funeral and then spend a few days with my family.
*There are a lot of pictures and they are all from my phone...

Long story short we had some flight issues and instead of going through Philadelphia and getting into MN at 1pm we went through Charlotte and got into MN at 4:30pm after leaving for the airport at 7am (really 6am Minnesota time). My sister picked us up and we waited for my bother in law who got in shortly after us, he too had flight problems. Our kids were pretty good sports and Abigail even slept on the second flight for a while.
Here is Ethan in the car driving from the airport to the viewing:

The ward prepared a wonderful luncheon. Ethan is hanging out with his Grandma. My Mom flew in from China to attend the funeral and my Dad stayed in China to teach all their classes.

This is kind of blurry but is of my cute nephew Zach. If only you could hear him say, "pretty please!"

Abigail and Josh enjoying the swings in my brother and sis in law's backyard. We spent a lot of time at their house and they have a great backyard. Abigail LOVES swings.

I can't wait to have a backyard someday where she can play.

There was some serious trampoline jumping going on:

Some of us played frisbee 500. They turned it into tackle:

Jenny brought some kites and Abigail helped Darl for a minute:

Tristan very focused on flying the kite:

Uncel Paul and Tyler who is just two weeks younger than Abigail. He LOVES hats:

At one point Abigail pointed to the trampoline and said 'bounce'. Tristan and Annie helped her jump for a minute.

Abigail really liked the slide in their backyard:

Cousin love...if only I'd gotten a picture of Zach laying on Ethan when he tried to lay next to him:)

Supermen!

The lighting is funny in this picture but I thought it was cute of Abigail and Tyler:

One day we went bowling. Abigail and Jenny hanging out:

Cousins bowling together:

Abigail liked to cheer as everyone bowled:

Tyler was so funny. He bowled in his sunglasses, jacket and hat. Guess he was hiding from the paparazzi?

It took Abigail a little while, but she finally decided she wanted to try bowling:

Ethan hanging out with my brother Paul.

Ethan really excited to hang out with my sister Laura;). Poor kid was so off his schedule, passed around, tired...but it was fun to introduce him to everyone!

2year olds can only handle bowling for so long, then on to snacks and iphones.

Ethan meeting his Great Grandma June:

Hanging out with Great Grandma Ruth:

Gma Ruth has lots of fun toys to play with. Tyler and Abigail were quite happy:

Abigail loves Elmo and really liked watching this Elmo toy roll around:

Ethan did lots of this while we were in MN:

One day some of us went to the Mall of America. My Mom, Mary, Zach and Abigail in the Disney Store watching whatever they were showing:

I might be the worst Mom ever. Abigail is tall and was tall enough for some rides. She was excited to sit between her cousins Josh and Will. Obviously only because she didn't know what was going on. The ride went up and then...

Started bouncing as it came down. Apparently she felt like she was going to fall off although Josh and Will thought it was pretty great. I felt bad as she gripped onto the bar for dear life but she was fine as soon as it stopped.

Ethan on the airplane:
We were grateful to be able to spend time with Family and celebrate my Grandpa's life. We know he is happy in a wonderful place with family that has gone before.

  2. I'm glad you guys got to go for the funeral--sad reason to go, but at least you got to see family and let the kids play! The grass looks so green and pretty there! :)
